
Congratulations to the Liberty HS String Quartet, who earned a Division I rating in their FIRST-EVER appearance at the STATE Solo & Ensemble Contest over the weekend! To qualify for State, these Patriots had to earn a Division I rating on a Class I (most difficult) solo or ensemble at the Regional competition during the spring semester. Lubbock-Cooper ISD has been named the FIRST LEGO League Challenge Outstanding School District of the Year!
This prestigious award was issued in recognition of the exceptional commitment of LCISD's robotics coaches and teams to supporting the FIRST LEGO League Challenge program in the Panhandle region! Congratulations to our fantastic robotics coaches Dawn Osterhoudt and Mark Hamlin (LCHS), Josh Satchell (Liberty HS), and Michael Voit (LCMS), along with all of our incredible competitors! The LCISD Music Department competed in the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest this past weekend in Austin. In February, these students performed their solo or ensemble and earned the highest rating at the Region level, which advanced them to State. LCISD has been notified that TxDOT plans to close off Loop 493 to thru traffic at some point this week. We do not know confirmed dates, but wanted to share this information with you. Please prepare for the possibility of this closure as you travel to/from Woodrow-area campuses.

TxDOT has reopened Loop 493, as they are unable to complete their planned culvert replacement project at this time. We do not yet know the new start date for this project, but will communicate this date with stakeholders if it falls before the end of the 2023-24 school year.
