East Elementary staff showed up bright and early in full inflatable costume fashion to welcome students with smiles, laughs, and LOTS of enthusiasm this morning! We’re going to miss this fun over the next few months! #LCPfamily

Rest up, LCP family…you’ve earned it!

The nostalgia was real as our Class of 2026 seniors headed back to where it all began!
Grads took a walk down memory lane (literally!) for their traditional Senior Walks across LCISD elementary campuses. From high-fives with our youngest Pirates and Patriots to emotional reunions with former teachers, there wasn’t a dry eye in the hallway!
To ALL of our Class of 2026 Graduates:
Whether you started your journey right here in an LCISD elementary classroom, or joined our family along the way, we could not be prouder of you! Your hard work and spirit have left an unforgettable mark on us, and no matter how far your path takes you, we will always be rooting for you from back here at home!
Thank you for the opportunity to help you build your future!

Today is an early release day (elementary campuses release at 12:00 p.m., secondary campuses release at 12:45 p.m.). Have a safe, relaxing, fantastic summer, LCP family!

Due to poor road conditions, LCISD buses will run on paved and caliche roads only for afternoon routes today, Wednesday, May 20. Students who live on dirt roads will need alternate transportation home from school.
Matt joined the district in 2014, serving as a campus tech, systems integration specialist, and systems integration coordinator before stepping into his current role. He has served on multiple technology advisory boards and regularly speaks at education technology conferences. A 2019 TCEA Technical Support Person of the Year Finalist and 2017 LCISD Pirate of the Year Finalist, Matt also recently earned his Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) certification.
A Lubbock native and graduate of Coronado High School, Matt graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor's in Management Information Systems, and received his Master's in IT Management (MSITM) from Western Governors University.
Matt and his wife have two children, one first grader enrolled in LCISD and one soon-to-be LCISD student. When off the clock, his favorite pastimes include being a dad ("Best thing ever," he shared), camping and fishing, hockey, and app development!
Matt shared, "My passion is working with students, my strength is working in Technology. Lubbock-Cooper ISD has been home for the past 12 years and is the perfect confluence of my greatest passion and my greatest strength."
As we celebrate Matt's transition into his new Executive Director role, we also honor the commitment of Jacque Fewin, who is in her 16th year at LCISD and 14th year as the leader of the LCISD Technology Department.
Jacque shared, "Reflecting on my 34 years in education, I feel immensely grateful for the journey. Specifically, my last 16 years with Lubbock-Cooper ISD have been some of the most rewarding of my career. I am truly thankful for the professional opportunities I’ve been afforded here and for the privilege of working alongside such dedicated colleagues, students, and families. I am especially grateful for the family that Lubbock-Cooper ISD has been to me, my kids, my husband, and even my in-laws. The sporting events, fine arts performances, and campus activities have forged fond memories that we will cherish for a lifetime."
Congratulations to both Matt Green and Jacque Fewin as they embark on new adventures! #LCPfamily

With almost two decades in law enforcement and more than a decade serving in his current leadership role for LCISD PD, Captain Alderson has extensive training and experience in school-based law enforcement and instruction, emergency response, community policing, and more.
A Lubbock native and graduate of Lubbock-Cooper High School, Captain Alderson is deeply committed to the LCP family, returning to serve the district in 2011 following his graduation from SPAG Law Enforcement Academy in 2009. His notable accomplishments while serving as captain include earning two life-saving awards and his Advanced and Master Peace Officer certifications.
Captain Alderson and his wife have two sons enrolled in Lubbock-Cooper ISD. When off the clock, he enjoys fishing and watching his sons participate in their various school and sports activities!
When asked his thoughts on his new position, Captain Alderson shared, "I'm excited to take on this role, and grateful to be serving the community that has always been my home. I'm proud of our district, and I believe it's made up of the best students, teachers, and families. They all deserve a safe and secure environment where they can thrive, and I look forward to our department continuing its legacy of protection and service."
As we celebrate Captain Alderson's transition into the Chief role, we also honor the dedication of Chief Saldaña, who is in his 27th year at LCISD and 15th year as Chief of Police.
Chief Saldaña shared, "I will forever be thankful to Lubbock-Cooper ISD for allowing me the opportunity to serve alongside the best administrators, faculty, support staff, and parents. It has always been the goal of our department to provide a safe learning environment where our teachers feel safe teaching and our students feel safe learning, and I'm grateful to have been part of that for so many years."
Congratulations to both Captain Alderson and Chief Saldaña as they embark on new adventures! #LCPfamily
