Mrs. Sanchez's West Elementary fourth graders are working on their own brackets with their March Madness reading competition! Each round, they face opponents to put in the most reading minutes outside of school. They're reading at home, in the car, in waiting rooms, and more! Mrs. Sanchez even creates a "highlight reel" of their reading adventures each week!

Congratulations to Matt Bullen, who has been appointed as the Lubbock-Cooper ISD Director of Community Development and Engagement effective at the end of the 2021-22 school year!
Mr. Bullen is a native of Grand Junction, Colorado, and a graduate of the University of New Mexico, where he played baseball. He and his wife of 18 years, Amanda, have two Pirates in our district, Kade and Tayley.
"My family and I are excited and blessed to be part of the LCP family and look forward to building great relationships in the district," said Bullen. "I cannot think of a more exciting time to be joining this incredible district."
Congratulations to North Elementary Assistant Principal Justin Guerrant, who has been appointed as the principal of Lubbock-Cooper New Hope Academy effective at the end of the 2021-22 school year!
Mr. Guerrant is an Abernathy native and a graduate of Texas Tech University and Lamar University. He began his Lubbock-Cooper career in 2019. He and his wife, Brittany, have three sons, Henson, Parks, and Wilder.
"It is a great honor to have the opportunity to serve as principal of New Hope Academy," said Guerrant. "I look forward to building upon the culture and high academic standards for which the campus is known, and maintaining Lubbock-Cooper ISD's reputation for excellence."
As we begin looking ahead to the 2022-23 school year, the LCISD Athletic Training Department reminds parents that pre-participation physicals are required for ALL students participating in pre-athletics, athletics, and (high school) marching band. All physicals must have a physician's signature dated AFTER March 31, 2022 (physicals signed before that date cannot be accepted.)
