At the end of each school year, Superintendent Bryant honors one district employee with the Pulling for Kids Award. This great honor is reserved for a person who provides exemplary service to students, takes great pride in their work, and, through their dedication, has made our schools better.
The 2023 Pulling for Kids Award recipient is LCISD Custodial Supervisor Ed Roberts. Ed was recognized during our End of Year Convocation, where his family was on-hand to surprise him!
Superintendent Bryant shared the following:
"Ed Roberts ensures that our learning environment sparkles. He and his team keep our facilities in tip-top shape.
Two and a half years ago, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was through Ed's commitment that we were able to safely bring students and staff back into our school buildings, minimizing learning loss and once again providing the many resources our students rely upon while at school.
Ed began working at LCISD at 2:00 p.m. on August 21, 1995. (Our record isn't quite so specific, but this district is so important to him that he knows the time he was hired.) He began as a custodian, and was later promoted to the evening custodial supervisor. Now, he is our District Custodial Supervisor. Ed deals with the parts of school life that most others will not or can not, and he does it with helpfulness, thoughtfulness, and joy in his heart.
As a leader, he enjoys helping others learn and succeed. He takes great pride in his work, and also in the employees in his department. His knowledge and wisdom are unsurpassed, and I don't know that I've ever met a person so committed to ensuring students, staff, and visitors enter clean, shining school buildings. He is deeply committed to his own family and his LCP family.
EVERY person at LCISD has benefited greatly from the outstanding job he does. Ed serves our district with great respect, compassion, and the heart of a servant."
When you've put in a combined 224 years of service to LCISD (even more when accounting for previous positions), you've earned some R&R! We honored our retirees with the traditional LCP Family rocking chairs, and we wish them all the rest and relaxation they deserve!
