Congratulations to the LCHS FBLA members who have advanced to the State Leadership Conference in April!

Due to inclement weather and the potential for increasingly hazardous road conditions overnight, Lubbock-Cooper ISD will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Monday, February 12. Buses will run on pavement only, also on a two-hour delay.
We encourage drivers to utilize the delay to allow themselves plenty of travel time to campuses, and we urge drivers to be very cautious.

West Elementary was featured at this month's meeting of the LCISD Board. In addition to recognizing students of the month, the campus showcased its Battle of the Books initiative, recently expanded to promote literacy in a fun and engaging way on all LCISD elementary campuses!

LCHS Choir's Alyssa Wilson has been selected to participate in the TMEA All-State Treble Choir in San Antonio next month! All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive, and Alyssa is one of just 1,875 students (out of 70,000) to be selected! #LCPfamily

Congratulations to LCHS' Hannah Nicholas, selected as a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders!
This prestigious conference is an honors program designed for high school students aspiring to pursue careers in medicine or medical research. Hannah's nomination, endorsed by Nobel Prize winner and Science Director of the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists Dr. Mario Capecchi, is a testament to her academic achievements, leadership potential, and dedication.
Over the three-day Congress in June, Hannah will engage with students from across the nation, attend lectures by Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science Winners, receive guidance from Ivy League and top medical school deans, and gain insights into cutting-edge advances in medicine and medical technology.
Well done, Hannah! Thank you for representing the #LCPfamily so well!

Congratulations to the Lady Pirate Wrestling team, who walked away from the THSWCA State Duals Championships as the NUMBER-ONE TEAM IN THE STATE! Entering the tournament with a #1 state ranking but as the #3 seed, the Lady Pirates overcame many challenging opponents to bring home the title. Our own Kamryn Flores was even named tournament MVP! 🏆

Congratulations to LBMS Honors RLA teacher Jessica Brown, who has achieved National Board Certification! National Board Certification is one of the most distinguished professional certifications available in education, and it includes a rigorous, performance-based, peer-reviewed assessment process demonstrating a teacher's proven impact on student learning and achievement. Mrs. Brown is the first Lubbock-Cooper teacher to become Nationally Board Certified while employed by LCISD, and now joins just 0.32% of Texas teachers to hold this great honor! Mrs. Brown will be recognized at the upcoming Texas NBCT Conference and Pinning Ceremony in San Antonio! #LCPfamily

“Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Secondary students from across the district participated in the second annual Texas Tech University MLK Youth Empowerment Summit this weekend. Sessions included goal setting, finding one’s purpose, and even medical and law school 101.
Keynote speaker Sean Lewis encouraged attendees to be all they can be in honor of Dr. King’s legacy!
We are grateful for this opportunity for our students to not only learn about the life and impact of Dr. King, but also learn more about the many ways they can make a positive impact in their communities.

One of the many objectives of the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation is to invest in the future of LCISD students - in part through awarding scholarships to deserving seniors seeking to further their education.
LCISD seniors are encouraged to apply for the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship. The Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation Scholarship is open to all Lubbock-Cooper seniors (Lubbock-Cooper High School and New Hope Academy).
During the application process, seniors will also have the opportunity to be considered for four memorial scholarships.
This is a great opportunity for our hard-working students to get a head start on funding for college or trade/technical school! Students can complete the online application at https://url.lcisd.net/lcef2024. The application deadline is Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
