January is Texas School Board Recognition Month, and we are grateful for the opportunity to honor the LCISD Board of Trustees! This group guides our district with dedication, integrity, and a love for our students and staff. We think they're the best of the best, and so does the rest of Texas! They were recently named the 2022 Region 17 School Board of the Year AND one of just five 2022 TASA Honor School Boards in the state!
Thank you, LCISD Trustees, for all you do for the LCP family!

Looking to add some new dance moves to your repertoire? Mrs. Brown's Central Pirates have created motions to match rhythms. They correspond with silly phrases like "gummy fish," "jelly pig," "yum yum gum gum," and "squishy squashy chewy toffee!"

Ms. Nichols' South Elementary Pirates are practicing random acts of kindness! They wrote notes of gratitude to Officer Wuensche for always keeping them safe!

Ms. McKay's South Elementary second graders had a collaborative discussion about Dr. Martin Luther King, his life, and his wisdom. They then split into groups and created a timeline of his life. We are so impressed by their knowledge!

“Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.”
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
LCISD students representing Lubbock-Cooper High School, Laura Bush Middle School, and Lubbock-Cooper Middle School had the opportunity to attend the inaugural Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Empowerment Summit at Texas Tech University. Students heard from several speakers honoring the life of Dr. King and sharing his wisdom. Students also participated in a number of activities designed to promote empowerment, including strengths awareness, money management, mental health awareness, female focus in STEM, and more, in addition to receiving guidance for pursuing professional careers post-high school.
